The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 从故事角度满分，电影角度上为数不多的缺陷是前半部拖沓，稍许艺术化和套路。
所谓公义基于法律和良心。即使展示悲剧，也避免了发生更多的悲剧。何用避而不谈，粉饰太平。不存在绝对的黑，也永远有追求公义之人。敬佩那些推动社会进步的人。
警察在监狱里虐待犯人看得挺难受的，真实度很高。音乐起得太多太没创意，这些印度片已经套路化了，这样的电影看过太多了，最后的神奇收尾也让我丝毫没有了爽感，大部分似曾相识的情节也逐渐将我的观影乐趣消耗殆尽。
看的时候多次不明白自己为什么要看，一度以为是90年代香港cult片监狱风云。
全程开挂？？我有点感觉这是印度的政治正确的电影？？就没有那种看韩国辩护人的感觉，韩国的这类型电影是看得非常纠结痛苦，非常致郁的。但印度这部就有点那种表面上是在说以前印度社会的黑暗，但实际上有点在赞扬某种东西（具体是什么我也说不清）所以觉得这部电影其实也还好。
不得不说，我们还未拍出这样的电影，我们在很多问题上没有勇敢的去面对，而是去掩盖真相，回避真相
如果普通人只配像猪狗一样活着，生命只能任凭他人蹂躏，那这确实是一个不值得过活的世界。
这样的题材，还拍得这么好。真是难得。

但，在此前提下，一旦有被翻译、被传播出来的电影，那100%可以放心看，不是五星也是四星的水准，至今不踩雷。
三星半。题材先行。男主的塑造深得天朝主旋律精髓，过于伟光正，几乎没有任何缺陷，人挡杀人佛挡杀佛，所有问题都很快解决。反倒是低种姓部落的塑造非常真实动人，暴力的呈现非常直接与震撼。
真实改编是本片最值得夸耀的地方 民主法制的建立和斗士愤慨激昂的斗志是现代人权主义建立健全文明社会的核心价值 片子的剧情和剪辑很标准不花哨 虽然有些镜头有些年代感 但叙事节奏一直在线 人物塑造特点鲜明且工整 而最值得称赞的是一个民族值得承认错误的气度和勇气而不是欲盖弥彰

4分给电影1分给题材，印度能够拍出自揭警察和司法体系伤疤的电影，就说明这个国家有他了不起的地方。电影讲述被歧视的部落男子被陷害逮捕殴打致死，他的妻子和人权律师伸张正义的案件。杰伊·比姆并不是人名，而是比姆万岁的口号，用来致敬比姆·安贝德卡尔，他为了印度种姓体系最底层的贱民阶层争取权力，是印度第一位法律部长和宪法之父。钱德鲁是印度著名人权律师，用了十年的漫长时间处理96000起案件，平均每天处理75起，对抗种姓制度、执法和司法系统。电影取材于真实案件，这个案件打了10年官司，是当地高等法院历史上最长的人权案件。主演电影的苏利耶还受到很多批评和威胁。印度有这样的杰出人物，敢于揭露自身的社会问题，这样的国家不可小觑。
前面的老鼠和大蛇特效差点把我劝退，但明快的色调和欢乐的氛围很吸引人，原来印度也有这么美的景色。开篇按照种姓区别对待囚犯，并重新给低种姓人安设罪名很真实了。故事讲的真好，有底层的对抗，有正义律师的协助，有教师的陪伴，有警察的不作为，但警察也不全是坏人，也有有良心的人。站在高层的人根本不把底层人民当人，他们只手遮天，但即使这样也要斗争呀，因为我们心怀正义，也坚信正义会降临，谢谢你，律师，对穷人的关照，对真相的找寻让人落泪，跟小女孩的互动也很戳人。女教师虽然微胖但好美，男主好像宽叔，越看越帅。怀孕妈妈在老公死去后心如死灰演的真好，唯一的不足是怀孕没有挺着肚子走，背看起来还是比较直。希望能看到系列影片，真的太需要这种片子告诉我这世界还是有些美好的。
我们熟悉的印度片老调子，不过煽动情绪这块，国产商业片真该好好学
