During the US Civil War, Union POWs escape in a balloon and end up stranded on a South Pacific island, inhabited by giant plants and animals. In 1865, during the siege of Richmond, Virginia, the union soldiers POW Captain Harding, Neb and Herbert escape in a balloon during a storm with two confederate prisoners, Sergeant Pencroft and the journalist Spilett. The uncontrollable wind takes the balloon to a mysterious island in the South Pacific in the area of New Zealand. Captain Harding self-proclaims the leader of the group and they look for food; sooner they discover that they are stranded in an island. Further, they are attacked by a giant crab that becomes their first meal. Along the days, they build a shelter and finds that the island is inhabited by giant animals. A couple of days later, they find two castaways on the beach, the aristocratic Lady Mary Fairchild and her sexy niece Elena. Later they find a trunk with weapons and instruments like sextant and shelter with a journal of a man left alone in the island by pirates. When the pirate vessel arrives in the island, they are helped by Captain Nemo of the Nautilus, a submarine that had supposedly sunk in the coast of Mexico eight years ago. 短小精悍的独幕音乐剧，群戏很过瘾，在911事件的20周年之际，因为疫情出了流媒体线上的官摄版。小岛是纽带，在大西洋的边际，去链接那些迫降的人们，普世意义的互助与爱再次被唤醒。挺喜欢《Finale》里的一句歌词“Tonight we honour what we lost/but we also commemorate what we found”911后20年的故人如此，身陷疫情困境的今人亦如此。
多人分饰多角的形式除了经济效率外，在阐释故事的团结和谐主题也有一定的符号化作用。适合放在小屏幕上的百老汇，故事视觉化、篇幅也短。

艾玛阿姨的气质和演技，达里尔的颜值身材以及温和从容的态度，让人看的无比舒服。这个电影其实很适合中年以上的古板守旧的女性看，就像这故事里男主的妈妈，还有前半生的女主。但又觉得这样的女性，很难因为一部电影就真正的觉醒。道德感和羞耻心也不允许她们觉醒。话说回来，这个故事也就只有艾玛汤普森和这么帅的男主来演才让人信服，才让人觉得女人老了也能这么爱自己，寻找和肯定自我。
虽然看《梦华录》时候我觉得双洁也很好啊，但是看了这个又觉得现代社会还是别双洁了，不然就得到六十几岁可能就一次性高潮都没体会过，然后还要花钱找年轻男人。我对女性招男妓这个事情本身也没什么反感，就是不想觉得要自己有一天是因为渴望这种年轻的肉体去花钱，会让人陷入一种不对等中。了解自己愉悦自己倒是永远不会晚。哎呀，我现在就要开始，不能老了。

舞台布景、声光影、演员不同角色切换自如，这些都很不错，百老汇不愧是老牌，玩得很专业，对911没太大感触，情绪共鸣起不来。国内在类似的现代舞台歌舞剧确实得好好学习一下老美，传统戏剧舞曲搞太多也没必要，融合现代生活、事件的特色舞台剧，更容易文化输出。
