The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. 相比起Toy Story系列，这部spin-off可以如此不打动人，令人意外。Izzy这个角色还算合理，另外两个sidekick实在是出现得莫名其妙非常牵强。至于引起争议的同性家庭，不留意根本就不会注意到，也因此显得多此一举，形式上的representation罢了。机器人的设计算是唯一亮点。
