The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 怎么说呢？这部电影让我连李光洙都喜欢不起来。看到房子掉下去，我居然面无表情内心毫无波澜。父亲掉进泥潭，儿子居然跟着跳进去救人。差点买一送一。超级无语。
节奏慢得一塌糊涂，缺乏亮点，这个片子本身就是一场灾难。

“乔迁”与“认识奇怪的邻居”这两个环节过长，让人以为有重要铺垫最后大失所望；
5.5分。我看了内容简介就觉得奇怪，这明明是部灾难片啊，怎么会挂着喜剧的名头？实际看下来。。。。。的确是喜剧。。。。这味道实在是太奇怪了。。。。
#VIFF2021 两星半，但评分比想象中要低，可能很多人抱着看灾难片的预期观影。很疑惑豆瓣的分类为何不是“喜剧”排最前面，笑点很多，煽情也合适，现场的老外一边乐得拍手掌一边抹眼泪，至少娱乐性做足了。另外作为东亚人，对于“买房焦虑”的议题深有同感，可惜讽刺也是浅尝即止，外加五毛特效和太多实在无法忽略的bug，让整部片子更像是半成品，应该打磨得更精细一点的。

融入了轻喜剧的灾难电影。当爆米花还可以。很多人拿它和河正宇的隧道比。我觉得不可比的。李光洙的表演比较有亮点。

期待很高，剧情很差。没有特别的惊心动魄，也没有特别的搞笑动人。警察毫无用处不晓得出现在现场的目的是什么。
除去结局后的末尾10分钟还挺精彩的，煽情有点乐意，感觉导演好像在用灾难套路，但是有点失败了。光洙上了太多综艺，观众对他没有新鲜感？自带喜剧效果

光洙一出场我就开始想笑了 在灾难是虚构的前提之下 有点轻拿轻放也不用太去计较 就当作特色吧
神级玩家华继良，见谁杀谁；空降兵林则徐，被架空还有生命危险；无厘头小野，信息使者；大兵阿泰，一身猛力却能裁剪量体。人物刻画鲜明。虽有瑕疵，不影响整体效果和意义。
这部电影承担的社会责任很多，孩子们多看看吧。
前半段还挺有趣的，后面变成《Exit》了……

韩国今年出片不少，新片里《管道》《地陷》属于弱智+脑残类的，剧情不够，喜剧来凑。市区内出现天坑很罕见，通过弹珠、玻璃、地面裂痕等细节简单敷衍铺垫之后，直接掉地底下了，然后通过黄色浮筒获救。先不说后来又倒了一顿楼盖住出口一伙人压根不可能轻易出来，整个救援队伍就是摆设，只会操作无人机、空投实物再加对着显示屏瞎咧咧。灾难场景呈现很浮夸，基本忽略了地底下残余楼体的物理空间，几个人莫名其妙就凑一块了。灾难营救题材，可以学学《隧道》。看完不觉着是天坑，导演脑子有坑倒是真的。
