James Benning’s first film called The United States of America was a 1975 trip across the country, capturing its scenery through a car windshield. This second one also crisscrosses the nation, but without a car, carving it up instead into a series of static shots of just under two minutes, one for each state, presented alphabetically, from Heron Bay, Alabama to Kelly, Wyoming. The names of the places are nondescript, but the images attached to them are anything but, immaculately composed shots of landscape, cityscape and the spaces in between. As we move from A to Z, the images coalesce into a portrait of today’s USA, tracing out its fault lines almost in passing: fenced-off facilities, a river bed running dry, factories and refineries, run-down streets and gas stations, a camp under a bridge. The past is there too, seeping up through the songs and speeches that sporadically pierce the background noise or the motifs that evoke a whole career; the clouds, trains and cabins are stand-ins for films, not just states. As always, there’s time for more abstract thoughts too: each image may stand for a state, but representativity is slippery. Which state is more cinematic than the rest?
确实女演员演技有点点做作，但我还是打出四星，那种压抑的、悲剧的氛围很到位，而且并非流水账记录式的电影，而是通过生活的一个小片段来体现人物内心。

故事应该叫做 让王妃穿好衣服按时吃饭有多难
沙莉霍金斯10分钟的出场秒掉小K两个小时的用力和造作。
本来以为会和宠儿一样无聊，没想到全程都看了下来（只能说明，个人喜好真的是个神奇的东西）虽然前半部分斯图尔特把王妃表演的总是缩脖子忸怩作态，但是那种禁锢在大宅门里的困顿苦闷真的就很契合，再加上背景时不时想起来的神经质的音乐，就让人更加入迷。结尾曲风一转至昂扬，虽然那可能只是短暂的一次放纵，但是也让人能感动到他们的快乐。

强烈的感受——Kitsch，甚至Kristen Stewart都没有什么问题，已经很拼命，怎奈电影本身实在做作之极到让人无法忍受。
塑造的斯宾塞是矫情的，小K的表演更是矫揉造作的，还好复古视听风格让片子有了亮点，最后的蒙太奇也颇显水准。
可是就是略略无病呻吟+矫揉造作+神经质+莫名其妙，有点过了。
斯特尔特表现太好了！！远超预期，脆弱悲伤怯懦勇敢，角色转变的每个层次都有抓到，依然带有自身的独特气质，却让这个人物还能显的可信自然，这是电影明星的魅力，她与戴安娜最神似之处，就是那种在个人身上挥之不去的叛逆与不适

Depressing and beautiful. I think Pablo Larraín is better with character-centric films that involve much more dynamism, like Ema. There's some parallel, of course, in his treatment of these two female characters' range of emotional experiences, but this one feels flat. The release at the end feels satisfying, despite its smallness.
全片一直都在说戴安娜怎么疯，怎么崩溃，怎么无法忍受，但是却完全没有说为什么。
7.2 很精致，人物的还原度很高。只是选取了圣诞的这一部分并不讨好，让王妃看上去真的像精神分裂者，而不是被规矩囚禁的金丝雀想要逃离牢笼而从内而外的反叛。不是一部传统的传记片，更像是表达了一种艺术处理后的情绪。
2.突兀的希望结尾
黛安娜王妃就是这样的吗？小k演的好做作。影片节奏很奇怪，太浅了还乱
我想要離開這個地方，但是我不知道怎麼做才好，她做到了我一直不敢做的，在眾人面前發瘋，她的崩潰是我所沒有的勇氣。憂鬱的時候看了會更加憂鬱的電影。
借用桃厂的评价：《斯宾塞》用极致的视听美学，掩故事性的缺失。想做到小写但缺乏叙事，给人一种不得劲的感觉。这种不得劲就是种矫情感，画面很美，配乐合适，情感饱满，服化道精良，能看出来费了力气，但然后呢？我看的是传记片，你给我放了一百二十分钟的香奈儿高定宣传片和英国皇家园林风景片，英伦厨是狂喜了，可戴安娜呢？她可能是斯宾塞，但绝不是戴安娜。
《闪灵》般的诡异英伦豪宅，临近崩溃的戴安娜王妃，不断重复残害着自己的躯体，几处梦境与现实的交织，随角色跟进的运动镜头。
