The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. Darren and Annie still enjoy each other’s company and laugh at each other’s jokes, but, unfortunately, they can’t remember the last time they had sex. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. The deal: one night of freedom, no strings attached, no questions asked. Could a freebie be the cure for their ailing sex life? And will they go through with it? 可能是由于电影中大部分角色都是真实的，这部电影又给了我一种半纪录片的感觉。我从未接触过这种houseless的生活，看完在震惊之后也只能失语。但我觉得最值得提到的一点是，导演在处理这些角色和情节时，并没有对他们或是社会作任何的道德批判，拍摄的镜头也多是平视（除了亚马逊，它实在是太大了）。它展示了这些“打工人”在被社会抛弃后的另一种可能，这也使得这部08年金融危机背景的电影，在现今的形势下有着特别的意义。
