The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 挺可爱的小电影，可以一看。戏剧性和喜剧性都有，音乐蛮爽的，里面的年轻演员也都很耐看。学校里的边缘人在一起搞重金属，不知道为什么让我想到了School of Rock。

妹妹台风简直就是贝拉，男主剃了阴阳头后有点像盖瑞，男二也可可爱爱！！唉金属爱好果然还是从teenager时期培养才好啊，中二就要可劲造！
南非种族平等的路很漫长，就像那三个被追进银行的自由战士，不论初衷如何最后都陷入困境。不伤及无辜是根本不可能的，心中充满爱与平等的美女不管观众觉得多不该死，最终还是会死在枪口下。想改变得越多，代价就越沉重，即便你已做好心理准备，也很难承受。
确实不错，没想到一支重金属乐队加入大提琴会有这么奇妙的化学反应。女主演技有点棒啊，男主有点像小时候荷兰弟。
抛去那些大家都看得出来的老套的设定和剧情，这样的片子总是让我怀念起高中的时光，他妈的还是读书好啊
看完觉得没有达到预期吧，很多情节比较老套，比如最后的结局在他们逃进银行就已经注定了，而直升机的情节也很老套，包括因为老婆被抓就叛变都是常见套路。一些紧张的氛围制造的还不错，但是人物塑造的比较简单，不够立体，像男主的心也太善良了吧，作为起义军，连狠辣都做不到，就像一个被欺负和抛弃的小孩，让人很难认同，那个司法部长的女儿也是一个彻头彻尾的工具人，塑造的太苍白了，所以最后被射杀也很难让人触动。所以电影想传达的核心思想完全流于了表面，比较让人失望。
